In 1915, Sarkis DerMugardichian a recent immigrant from Turkey, settled in Watertown, MA and had the opportunity to purchase Star Market. He borrowed $900 from relatives, who he would later bring on to staff it. The growth of Star Market can be attributed directly to the ingenuity of our founders, our passionate Star Market family and our dedicated vendor partners, with whom we share our legacy!
